Open Prairie Ventures I was a $40 million 1999 vintage fund, originally licensed as a Small Business Investment Company (SBIC), that assembled a portfolio of opportunistic investments in 15 early-stage, Midwest-based companies developing technologies in the life sciences/medical device, communications/wireless, and information technology/software sectors. Completing its fund life in 2012, the portfolio realized two IPOs, InfoBlox (NYSE: BLOX) and TomoTherapy (NASDAQ: TOMO), and the acquisitions of iNest, MedVenture Technology, Innovative Security Systems and Epiworks, delivering top quartile performance for its 1999 vintage fund class.
